The Four Natural Hair Stages

There are four stages during natural hair growth. The TWA ( teeny weeny afro), The TA (teeny afro), The afro and lastly the BA (big afro). At the moment I am in-between stage 2 and 3, if there was a stage 2.85345 I would be in the picture.
  • During stage 1 natural hair care is the easiest. You can use many different products and can co-wash everyday. The hair may not take very long to dry as air can easily pass through. Hair bows, clips and bands are needed for an extra girly touch.

  • Stage 2 hair care becomes a little more difficult. This stage is also known as the terrible two's. More styling products are needed to cover the surface area of the hair and drying is struggle. Also common hair styles like puffs, buns and ponytails are unattainable.

  • Stage 3 or the afro stage is a great and easy stage for naturals. Braid-outs, twist outs, buns, ponytails, puffs and poofs are very easily done on stage 3 hair. Hair is long enough for common hairstyles are attainable.

  • Stage 4 is great stage for naturals but can also be a very difficult stage. Hair is long and can be molded into any hairstyle. Hair products finish extremely quickly and natural products may be best for length retention.
