Dying your natural hair and FAQ

Want to switch it up? Thinking about dying your hair for the summer? Here are some tips and tricks for dying your natural hair. Many people believe dying natural hair will strip it from its "naturalness". Its almost like using a relaxer, Hair dyes are man made chemicals that will chemically change your hair. Your hair may become frizzy, straight and dull when dyed. Remember the dye is chemically changing your hair. There are some hair dyes that "claim" to be natural, so do your research. I believe that dying your natural hair is a personal choice and should be carefully thought out. Remember after dying, there is no way I repeat NO WAY for you to return to your natural hair color without growing your hair out. As naturals we know our hair can take many months to fully grow to our desired lengths, if you decide to dye your hair let it be a personal choice. Here are some tips for my viewers with dyed hair:

Tips:

  1. If you have dyed your hair with henna and do not like the results DO NOT apply another hair dye over it. It will react and form a totally different color.
  2. Many shampoos and conditioners are made for un-dyed hair so make sure you have a specific conditioner made for your hair.
  3. Find out the color that will work with your skin tone. Blond hair doesn't always look the best on tan to dark skin, so once again personal choice.
  4. Since you may lose moisture make sure you use great moisturizing products to keep your hair moisturized.
