How to Update your Natural Hair Regimen for SUMMER!

Summer is almost here and this new season calls for a new and updated summer routine. Time to ditch the heating tools and grab that mayo, its time for a protein treatment!
This protein treatment is a simple DIY with five simple ingredients:
1. 1 whole banana
2. 4 tablespoons of olive oil
3. Mayo
4. Coconut oil and water mixture
Great Question! Braids and or twists are amazing for the summer months. They help with keeping moisture in your hair shaft and they look amazing. I am currently rocking some medium sized box-braids and I love them.

Three Easy Prom Hairstyles for Naturals

Hey guys and gals! Its Prom and Formal season, and today I have a few hair ideas and inspirational posts to help all naturals on the way to Prom.

Style #1. The Halo Twist
The Halo Twist is a lovely style for prom because it is
quick and simple and will allow  you to spend more time on
other necessities. This hairstyle is a simple underhand
flat twist around the head.

Style #2. The Kanekalon Crochet.

You wouldn't really think about using stringy kanekalon hair for a prom hairstyle. But if you are not willing to straighten your long locks for prom you should consider using kanekalon for a straightened look.

Here is a link to an amazing video on using the invisible part method for realistic looking crochet hair.

DIY Homemade Shea Butter Cream

Hey Guys and Gals! I have been struggling to find time to blog. I have tried to keep blogging a part of my daily schedule and I have been 'slacking". Anyway, I have recently decided to try out Shea butter on my hair and I love it. The creamy consistency is amazing when mixed with oils and other liquids. Here is my recipe for an amazing Shea Butter Cream/Creme.

Ingredients:

  1. Shea Butter (yellow or white).  The color doesn't matter they have the same properties
  2. Almond Oil (2 tablespoons)
  3. Black Castor Oil (2 tablespoons)
  4. Water or Glycerin. The ingredient you choose depends on what properties you want your cream to have. If you want moisture lock and shine use glycerin. If you want a less oily cream use water.
  5. Here is the open spot. You can add any oil, essential oil or flavoring of your choice in this spot.
Now add all ingredients into a bowl or jar and thoroughly mix until you achieve a smooth consistency without chunks. Enjoy your cream everyone and until next time. Ten un buen dia. (Its in Spanish)

All about my box braids!

HEY Guys and Gals. I'm back with another blog post after a little break. I have been trying to constantly post Hairspiration's every other day but its a little difficult. Anyway here is a post all about my current protective style.
What are Box Braids?
Box braids are individual plaits that are usually divided by small squared off parts or boxes. Box braids may be of any width or length, but most women add synthetic or natural hair to the braid for length as well as thickness and fullness.

So now that you know all about my box braids. Here is a little time line about my hair so far.

  1. So I got my braids installed on March 21
  2. Before installing I made sure to wash , condition and deep condition my hair.
  3. After about Two weeks my hair edges and braids in the front began to frizz.
  4. I got them neatened for free . Yay.
  5. I had a television show scheduled for the next week that was live so, I got the back and front neatened.
  6. After three weeks and multiple days of forgetting to tie my hair down with a satin scarf my hair began getting very frizzy.
  7.  Here is a quick tip. Use thick and wide hair bands to cover frizz.
  8. So I will only be keeping my braids in for four weeks. And I will share any other updates.
