My Wash Day Routine

Hi Guys and Gals! Today I have my updated wash day routine. My wash day routine will be split into two blog posts. First, my wash routine and next specific products I use. My hair is currently collar bone length and I have been wearing protective styles since December. I prefer to wash my hair on weekends as I am a student and have limited time. I cleanse my hair with shampoo or an Aztec clay mud wash. I moisturize my hair with a simple conditioner and detangle. I occasionally use a hot oil treatment and a natural deep conditioner.

What I do
  • For starters I like to wash my hair in the morning or early afternoon. I do so to allow my hair to completely dry before styling.
  • To begin my routine, I part my hair into four sections and use a scalp treatment and a hot oil treatment. I leave these products in my hair for about an hour.
  • Without rinsing out the oils I apply shampoo to my scalp and massage it well.
  • I rinse the shampoo out with cold water and either apply a deep conditioner or store bought conditioner.
  • After rinsing out the conditioner, I detangle once more and apply a leave-in conditioner. I then braid my hair. It takes about four hours for my hair to fully dry. I style as needed.
